About K-12 AI Literacy

K-12_AI_Literacy.png

AI literacy is crucial today as AI becomes more prevalent across many industries and aspects of life. Having a basic understanding of what AI is, how it works, and its capabilities and limitations allows people to better navigate and critically analyze the AI systems they encounter. The AIResolver project team will develop and test the impact of a scalable and personalized intelligent problem-solving system designed to increase students’ AI literacy. AIResolver (1) engages students in a series of realistic AI-related problem-solving scenarios, (2) provides students with scaffolding tools and pedagogical agents to increase their factual and procedural knowledge of AI, (3) utilizes interactive simulations to immerse students in AI-based technologies and (4) develops students critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and self-regulated learning skills in an AI-powered learning environment.

AIResolver is guided by the Self-regulated Learning Framework and the Problem-based Learning Framework for the design of an individualized and intelligent problem-solving system. This project leverages the technological capabilities of AIResolver in fostering AI literacy by enabling students to make informed decisions about AI technologies, develop reasonable expectations of AI’s capabilities, and cultivate an awareness of the potential biases, risks, and ethical implications associated with AI.
